Earn miles on your rent, mortgage or other big expenses through card-payment platforms.
Using card payment platforms like EveryPay and CardUp can be worthwhile if you choose the right credit cards and understand the valuation of miles.
Overview
To earn more miles, we want to pay with a credit card at every possible opportunity, whether it is at a grocery store, restaurant or booking a hotel. Your opportunity to pay using credit cards every month is limited by which merchant take credit cards.
Now, for monthly big expenses like rent, mortgage and loan, you are typically not presented with the opportunity to pay using a credit card to earn miles.
This is where Card Payment Platforms like EveryPay and CardUp come in – they create an opportunity for you to pay your rent, mortgage and other big payments using credit cards, for a fee.
In our book, paying that fee is in the realm of buying miles.
Whether it’s worth it depends on which card you’re using and how much you value your miles.
In this post, we will have a look at two card-payment platforms, EveryPay and CardUp.
EveryPay

With its headquarters in Malaysia, fintech company Every (IIMMPACT SDN BHD) offers various services on its platform, one of such is EveryPay where you can pay your rent, mortgage and other expenses using credit cards.
The Every app is available on both iOS and Android.
They do offer other services such as paying your monthly utilities, buying eSIM and vouchers, etc. But we will focus on EveryPay in this post.
Each payment and amount requires a valid invoice or proper documentation, which is verified by the platform’s AI.
Fees
The fees vary based on the payment speed of your choice:
| Payment Type |
Normal (3 business days) |
Express (minutes) |
|---|---|---|
| Visa / Mastercard | 1.79% | 2.79% |
| Fave (AMEX) | 2.39% | 3.39% |
| QR (DuitNow) | 0.5% | 1.5% |
For normal payment speed, the service fee using Visa/Mastercard is 1.79%. Alternatively, you can pay via FavePay for a fee of 2.39%, which enables you to pay with American Express cards.
For express payments, there is an additional 1% fee. As a bonus for using this option, you get Every Reward Points at O.2 Points Per Ringgit (PPR), which can be converted to various airline miles including Aeroplan, Flying Blue, Avianca, Avios, Etihad, Hainan, Qantas, Royal Orchid Plus, Lotusmiles, Etihad and AirAsia. You can also convert the points to hotel programs – Accor and Shangri La Golden Circle.
Here’s a tip: To keep costs down while ensuring your landlord receives rent on time, ideally schedule the payment 3 business days in advance. But if you prefer a fuss free experience, you can use the Express option, and as bonus, you get additional miles like Aeroplan at 0.2 MPR.
EveryPay transactions are tagged to MCC 7278 – Buying or Shopping Services, and will be treated as online transaction. Your card will be charged instantly regardless of which payment speed you choose.

Is it good value?
Before we dive in, we recommend reading our post on determining the value of a mile.
In the miles game, we always aim to acquire miles at a cost much lower than their value. Keep in mind, value is subjective; while we provide a guide valuation, it’s important for you to determine your own value for miles.
At BolehMiles, we currently value KrisFlyer miles at 5–10 CPM and Enrich miles at 4–6 CPM. If we’re buying miles, we’ll only do so if the cost is below our lower-end valuation — that’s under 5 CPM for KrisFlyer and under 4 CPM for Enrich.
Here’s how the cards we mentioned above stack up using EveryPay:
- The Platinum Charge Card: At 2.62/3.28 CPM, we have no problem recommending this option. Note that we have not factored in the card’s high annual fee, so depending on how much you ‘offset’ the annual fee through consumption at lounges and other perks, the actual CPM may be higher. And Maybank’s miles redemption monthly quota does not make your life easier.
- Manchester United Visa Infinite (MUVI): At 3.52 CPM, it’s a viable option but requires keeping an eye on MU’s wins and timing your payments, which can be very tricky. You also have to deal with Maybank’s miles redemption monthly quota.
- KrisFlyer Platinum: At 4.67 CPM, it is just a hair below our 5CPM valuation. Not a bad deal, not fantastic either. So we suggest using it sparingly or when aiming for a specific redemption. Combining it with MUVI (on MU win days) can help you reduce the average CPM over time. Miles are credited to your Krisflyer account monthly, so you do not have to deal with the Maybank monthly miles quota issue.
- CIMB e-Card: At 1.83 CPM for Enrich, this is a great price. But we recommend maxing out the card limit through online shopping, auto-billing and Visa PayWave first, then using EveryPay to reach the remaining limit.
With that, let’s move on to CardUp.
CardUp

CardUp is another Card Payment Platform operating in Malaysia, with headquarters in Singapore.
The platform distinguishes between personal and business payments. Since BolehMiles focuses on everyday Malaysians, we’ll be covering only the personal payment options.
CardUp transactions are tagged to MCC 7399 – Business Services – Not Elsewhere Classified, and will be treated as online transaction.
Fees
The service is straightforward and similar to EveryPay: you can pay big expenses using locally issued Visa, Mastercard, or UnionPay credit cards for a 1.60% service fee (until 31 Jan 2025). If you’re using an RHB credit card, the fee is discounted at 1.30%.
Note that American Express cards seem to be not supported.
What cards are best to use with CardUp?
After exploring various options, our recommendation for CardUp is the RHB Premier Visa Infinite Credit Card.
This card is only available to RHB Premier Customers (requiring RM200,000 in Assets Under Management) with income requirement of RM150,000 p.a.
There’s no annual fee for this card, and it offers 1.0 MPR (Enrich) for overseas spend and 0.375 MPR (Enrich) for online spend. Alternatively, you can earn KrisFlyer Miles at 0.57 MPR for overseas spend and 0.21 MPR for online spend.
| Pay Using | MPR (online) | Cost (CPM) |
|---|---|---|
![]() RHB Premier Visa Infinite (Fee: 1.30%) |
0.375^ / 0.21* | 3.43 / 6.13 |
^0.375 MPR – Enrich
*0.21 MPR – Krisflyer
Is it good value?
For us at BolehMiles, since we value Enrich miles at 4-6 CPM, we may acquire some Enrich miles using RHB Premier VI through CardUp at RM3.46 CPM, which is just a hair below our lower end valuation of 4CPM for Enrich. Not a fantastic deal, but not too bad either! As for KrisFlyer Miles at 6.13 CPM, it is a firm-no for us.
Conclusion
Look, buying miles can be a great way to add more miles to your portfolio.
But if you’re buying miles mainly to feel good by seeing those big numbers in your miles account, without giving thought about the cost or a redemption plan, you might end up disappointed if your miles lose value over time.
Don’t rush it. Do the calculation and talk to yourself. Talk to your girlfriend (maybe). And if the cost per mile works out for you, go for it.

Nice article! However, for everyday, I don’t see Royal Orchid Plus and Shangri La Golden Circle. Is it still not available yet?
