The Hong Leong Bank Visa Infinite earns 1.0 MPR on Dining, uncapped, with no minimum spend. That makes it the highest earning rate card for Dining in Malaysia right now.
Who is this card for?

Dining out is a regular habit, so a card that gives 1.0 MPR on Dining is going to appeal to almost everyone.
Take note though, that this card earns only Enrich (carbs). You can’t earn any other type of miles, be it Krisflyer/Asia Miles (Meat) or Seafood (Avios/FlyingBlue).
How does this card stack up against its peers for Dining?
When it comes to Dining, there are quite a few cards to choose from, but most come with conditions. The HLB VI / Privilege has no minimum spend requirements and offers the highest MPR, making it an easy pick.
Here’s how the dining earning rates stack up across different miles cards in the Malaysian market.

What are the Dining MCCs?
Hong Leong Bank defines Dining MCCs as 5811, 5812, and 5814, that covers most physical F&B outlets. So as long as you’re dining at a restaurant, food court, or coffee shop, you should be earning 1.0 MPR.
Just keep in mind: MCC 5813 (bars, clubs, nightlife spots) won’t earn miles, and online food deliveries are excluded too.
| Dining MCC | Examples | Earn Miles? |
|---|---|---|
| Caterers, Eating Places & Restaurants (5811 & 5812) | Zus Coffee, Gigi Coffee, Madam Kwan, Oriental Kopi | ✅ |
| Fast Food Restaurants (5814) | McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King | ✅ |
| Drinking Places – Bars, Taverns, Lounges, Disco (5813) | TREC Club, Lachica Grill+Bar | ❌ |
| Misc. Food Stores (5499) | GrabFood | ❌ |
A New Combo to Earn Loads of Enrich?
The HLB VI is one best card for local categorised spend, because Dining is a category everyone spends on.
If your income is at the RM100,000 range, having the 4 cards below in your portfolio should easily cover most of your lifestyle spend. Use them right (through categorised spending), you can realistically rack up loads of Enrich per month.

Should You Use the Hong Leong Bank VI for Overseas Dining?
We recommend using Overseas Spend cards like the UOB Priv Miles Elite, UOB Visa Infinite, or CIMB Travel World Elite when dining abroad, unless you don’t have them of course. Since you’re already overseas, don’t waste the chance to rack up some Meat and Seafood Miles.
Should You Use the Hong Leong Bank VI for Non-Dining Spends?
Short answer: no.
The earning rates for Travel and Clothing/Department Store spend at 0.25 MPR on the HLB VI and 0.33 MPR on the HLB VI Privilege are just too low to be worth it.
For travel spend, you’re better off with cards like the UOB PRVI Miles Elite or UOB Visa Infinite. For clothing and department stores, consider the UOB Lady’s Card, or stick with the Maybank Platinum Amex or Maybank KrisFlyer Amex instead.
Lounge Access
The HLB VI offers 4x access per year to Plaza Premium Lounges in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. We’ve also written a guide on KLIA lounges. You can check it out here
The HLB VI Privilege gives you 4x Priority Pass access per year, which unlocks more lounges worldwide.
Travel Insurance
When you charge the full fare of your flight ticket to the Hong Leong Infinite P Card, you’ll be automatically insured for up to RM2 million. The coverage includes travel accidents and common travel inconveniences like missed connections, flight delays, luggage delay, and luggage loss.
You can view the full insurance wording by MSIG [here].
Annual Fee
Both the HLB VI and HLB VI Privilege come with no annual fee which is pretty puzzling, considering they offer the highest MPR for Dining and solid lounge access.
But hey, we’re not complaining.
Conclusion
The Hong Leong Bank VI now ranks high on our list of Local Categorised Spend cards. With no annual fee, it’s a no-brainer—and we highly recommend adding this card to your portfolio.
One question does remain though: With such a high MPR, how long can it last?
In a time when the Malaysian miles scene feels a bit stagnant, this card is a breath of fresh air.
Great job, Hong Leong Bank. We hope the other banks are paying attention.
