Who is this card for?
The UOB PRVI Elite Miles card is ideal for those who travel abroad or transact in foreign currency online often.
But even if you don’t travel often, you can still benefit from this card for local hotel bookings (paid in RM) through Agoda at 1.5 MPR.
This card is also ideal for Malaysians living abroad. For example, if you live in Singapore, this would be a 3.30 MPD general spending card (1 SGD ~ RM3.3 at the time of writing).
Enhanced MPR for selected ASEAN currencies
All transactions in SGD, THB, IDR, and VND now earn a nice 1.00 MPR, whether online or offline.
If you recall, UOB previously offered 1.00 MPR for all foreign currency transactions before dialing it back to 0.83 MPR in September 2024. That change left many feeling disappointed, but this latest upgrade brings back some excitement.
Note that all other foreign currencies will continue to earn 0.83 MPR.
Enhanced MPR for Agoda Hotel Bookings

Here’s the enhanced earning rates for hotel bookings on Agoda
| Agoda Spend Currency |
Earn Rate |
| RM | 1.50 MPR |
| SGD,THB,IDR,VND | 2.40 MPR |
| Other Foreign Currencies |
2.25 MPR |
Note that the earn rates above are a combination of base and bonus points. Bonus points will only be credited up to 3 months after your hotel stay, which implies that UOB knows whether you’ve completed your stay.
To qualify for the bonus, bookings must be made through agoda.com/myprvimiles. Only hotel bookings are eligible for the bonus. Flights, activities, eSIMs, and other purchases do not qualify.
Being an OTA, booking through Agoda means we don’t get to utilise Hotel Elite Status perks and hotel elite points multipliers (hence hotel rebates).
How Does This Card Stack Up with its Peers ?
| Card | Airline | Overseas Spend |
|---|---|---|
![]() UOB PRVI Miles Elite |
0.41 MPR | 0.83 / 1.00 MPR |
![]() UOB Visa Infinite |
0.08 MPR | 0.83 MPR |
![]() CIMB Travel World Elite |
0.67 MPR | 0.67 MPR |
As you may know, the UOB Visa Infinite (UOB VI) and the UOB PRVI Miles Elite (UOB PME) are very similar, with the major difference being that the UOB Visa Infinite offers 0.41 MPR for Dining, while the UOB PRVI Miles Elite offers 0.41 MPR for Airline. Since the focus here is on Overseas Spend, and with UOB PME now offering a superior earning rate, we are more inclined to recommend the UOB PME over the UOB VI.
The CIMB Travel World Elite (TWE) is another solid option for overseas spend. It also gives you access to a much wider range of Frequent Flyer Programs (FFPs), or what we like to call Seafood Miles.
Foreign Currency Transaction Cost
Without going into too much detail, foreign currency transactions cost for UOB PME is approximately 2.25%.
That means for SGD, THB, IDR and VND (the ASEAN Tigers), the cost of miles is about 2.25 CPM. For other currencies, the cost of miles is about 2.70 CPM.
You can estimate the cost using the Mastercard Currency Converter Calculator.
Airline Transfer Partners

You can convert UNIRM to Enrich, Krisflyer and Asia Miles. The conversion rate for UOB PRVI Miles Elite card holder is 12000UNIRM : 1000 Miles, effectively 0.83 MPR for overseas spend).
We recommend converting UNIRM to Meat Miles (Krisflyer Miles and Asia Miles) for the best value.
Lounge Access

The card provides 8x Lounge Access at Plaza Premium Lounges at many major airports worldwide.
You can view the list of lounges here. Note that you cannot access Plaza Premium First at KLIA with this card.
Payment Network

Despite the word “Elite” in its name, this card is on the World Mastercard tier, not the World Elite Mastercard tier. You get the perks of World Mastercard listed on this website.
Free Ride Home from KLIA T1

The card offers a Complimentary Grab Ride Home program when you complete 3 overseas transactions (online or offline).
You can only redeem twice a month capped at RM80 per redemption, which offsets the cost of a normal Grab ride to Klang valley (plus/minus toll). This is a really useful perk for those who travel home to Klang valley from KLIA T1.
Pro tip: This doesn’t work at KLIA T2. But you can take the KLIA Express from T2 to T1 (cheap and fast), then enjoy the Grab ride home from KLIA T1 instead.
Other Benefits
World Mastercard Perks: You automatically enjoy World Mastercard benefits listed on this website.
Insurance: The card provides decent free insurance with coverage up to RM300,000 for 24-hour overseas personal accidents, overseas medical and travel inconvenience, COVID-19 protection, and purchase protection. View Policy provided by Chubb. We wrote an article to review UOB PME’s insurance here.
Exclusions
We are pleased that the exclusion list is not too punitive, allowing flexibility for big ticket payments such as insurance and medical fees abroad. The list of exclusions can be found in the Terms and Conditions here.
Income Requirement and FD Pledge
This card has an annual income requirement of RM100,000. Alternatively, those who do not meet the income requirement or do not have the required credit background can obtain this card via FD Pledge. The FD Pledge option is not advertised or officially mentioned by the bank, but we have unofficial reports of people getting it with RM30,000 in FD Pledge.
Is the annual fee worth it?
UOB is currently giving 1-year annual fee waiver until 30 June 2025 for new cardholders, which is very generous considering the amount of perks provided.
If you are not eligible for the RM600 annual fee waiver, this card could still be worth your money, which attempt evaluate as follows:
| Perk | Value Assignment Methodology | Value |
| Annual Renewal bonus 5000 Miles | For Krisflyer Miles, we would be willing buyers at 4 ringgit cents per mile (CPM). Hence 5000 Krisflyer Miles x RM0.04 = RM200 | RM200 |
| Lounge Visit | Assuming 8 visits per year. And for each visit, assume cost of RM 30 for the buffet spread food, hand crafted drinks and other beverages. Hence RM30 x 8 = RM 240 | RM240 |
| Airport Limo | Assume we take the limo 5x a year and assign value of RM80 (slightly higher than Grab cost). Hence RM 80 x 5 = RM400 | RM400 |
| Travel Insurance | Assume the cost of an annual insurance of RM50 per year | RM50 |
| Total Value | RM890 | |
The total value recouped is approximately RM 890, which more than offsets the annual fee of RM 600. However, keep in mind that this is based on Peter’s usage—always calculate based on your own spending habits to determine if it’s worth it for you.

How about its points to miles redemption rate, compared to other banks? (9:1 vs cimb 15:1 vs hsbc 25:1)
Each bank has its own unique transfer ratios and bonus systems, which makes the miles game complex in Malaysia.
