A little strategy can go a long way with your Enrich Points

Overview
For many Malaysians, Enrich remains the go-to frequent flyer programme, whether you’re a loyal Malaysia Airlines flyer or simply enjoy the convenience of direct flights.
While high fuel surcharges can sometimes make redemptions less attractive, Enrich still offers some excellent sweet spots if you know where to look.
And it’s not just about flights. Your Enrich Points can also be used for hotel stays or even converted into cash.
In this post, we’ll explore how to make every Enrich Point count.

How do we earn Enrich Points in Malaysia?
Earning Enrich Points in Malaysia is relatively easy. Almost every miles-earning credit card offers Enrich as a transfer partner. For the best options, check out our post on the Best Miles Credit Cards in Malaysia.
Of course there’s also the old-school way: flying with Malaysia Airlines or oneworld partners like Qatar Airways. Eligible flights also earn Elite Points, bringing you closer to Enrich Gold or Platinum status. But do watch out for fare classes on oneworld partners, especially Cathay Pacific Economy, which often earns you no points at all.
To check which fare classes on Oneworld partners earn Enrich Points and Elite Points, refer to this page.
The Sweet Spots
In our How Much Is One Enrich Point Worth? article, we set our target redemption value at 4 to 6 cents per point (CPP).
Everyone values their points differently, but as a rule of thumb, we want to aim for at least 4CPP to make your redemption worthwhile, with 6CPP (or more) being an excellent return.
Also, Business redemptions are more often than not gives you higher CPP compared to economy redemption.
Another useful benchmark for Malaysians is the number of KrisFlyer Miles required for the same redemption. While KrisFlyer Miles are generally more valuable than Enrich Points (our target is 5 to 10 cents per mile), comparing the two can help you decide which programme offers better value for your trip.
Business Class

Here are some standout destinations where Enrich delivers over 4 CPP, while also requiring fewer points than KrisFlyer Miles.
The 8 Great Carb Escapes
| Business, one-way | ||
| Destination (from KUL) | Enrich Saver |
KrisFlyer Saver (from KUL) |
| London | 108,000 | 114,000 |
| Maldives | 16,300 | 47,500 |
| Tokyo (Narita) | 50,000 | 57,000 |
| Osaka | 50,000 | 57,000 |
| Seoul (Incheon) | 48,000 | 57,000 |
| Shanghai | 47,500 | 46,500 |
| Beijing | 48,700 | 46,500 |
| Melbourne | 75,000 | 75,500 |
Note that Enrich Saver rates can be harder to find during peak travel periods such as major holidays. As Enrich uses dynamic pricing, the Enrich Points required can rise significantly when demand is high.
As alternative during peak travel, consider using Asia Miles and Avios to find available award slots which can provide better value.
Economy Class

Economy Domestic
Economy on Malaysian Airlines is great for short domestic trips. Here are some good ones that require small amount of enrich, and possibly more than 4 CPM of value.
| Destination (from KUL) | Enrich Saver |
| Langkawi | 2,300 |
| Penang | 2,300 |
| Miri | 3,200 |
| Sibu | 3,200 |
| Kota Kinabalu | 4,600 |
Economy International
The value proposition of Enrich’s international Economy redemptions has improved recently, with many routes now offering over 4 CPP. Here are some of our favourite sweet spots:
| Destination (from KUL) | Enrich Saver |
KrisFlyer Saver (from KUL) |
| Maldives | 5,500 | 20,000 |
| Fukuoka | 7,300 | 27,000 |
| Taipei | 13,200 | 16,000 |
| Seoul (Incheon) | 20,000 | 27,000 |
| Sydney | 25,000 | 30,500 |
| London | 33,000 | 46,000 |
During MATTA Fair, you may even find redemption rates below the usual Enrich Saver levels. Check out our MATTA Fair 2026 post for more details.
Also, one-way redemption into KUL (inbound) can sometimes be cheaper than one-way departing KUL (out-bound). A great example, and a community favourite at BolehMiles, is SIN–KUL. Redemption rates can be surprisingly low at times (though availability varies).
| Singapore – Kuala Lumpur (Economy) |
Enrich Saver |
KrisFlyer Saver |
| One-way | 1,600 | 8,000 |
| Return | 3,200 | 16,000 |
And the best part: Enrich Gold/Platinum members can enter Oneworld lounges at Changi, including the Qantas Business Lounge and British Airways Lounge. Paying just 1,600 Enrich Points, with a good meal (and alcohol) at the lounge before departure, it’s such a steal!
Fuel Surcharge (YQ)
Fuel surcharges (YQ) are one of the trickiest parts of Enrich redemptions, and sometimes a dealbreaker. Your points cover the base fare, but you’ll still need to pay YQ in cash.
Due to the Middle East conflict in March 2026, fuel prices remain elevated, but thankfully, YQ for MH flights departing KUL remains relatively reasonable, except for Japan and Doha.
Check out our guide on how to beat fuel surcharges for ways to minimise YQ, or simply skip redemptions where the surcharge is too high.
OneWorld and Partner Airlines Redemption
A lesser-known perk of Enrich is the ability to redeem flights on Oneworld partner airlines. You can use your Enrich Points to book award flights directly on the Malaysia Airlines website, including flights operated by Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, and more.

Notice that the Enrich required is fixed, unlike the dynamic pricing applied to Malaysian Airlines flights. Additionally, return flights tend to offer better value than one-way trips, provided you can find redemption availability.

Redeem Enrich for Hotel stays
No time to travel, or have excess Enrich Points to burn? Enrich Hotels can be a good alternative if you can get at least 4 cents per point in value.

Redeem Enrich for Cash
Enrich Money is a money app that comes with a Visa card, focused on travel expenses at competitive foreign exchange rates similar to Wise and BigPay. It’s powered by Merchantrade.
You can convert Enrich Points to EnrichMoney Points, which can then be converted to cash:
1 Enrich Point = 1 EnrichMoney Point = RM0.025 (2.5 CPP)
EnrichMoney also runs occasional transfer bonuses (usually month-end). With a 20% bonus, for example, your cash redemption value increases from 2.5 to 3 CPP.

Still, you won’t be getting maximum value from Enrich Points this way, but sometimes when you prefer cash flow, turning Carbs into cash can make sense.

Conclusion
For Malaysians, Enrich Points are easy to earn through credit cards and convenient to redeem, especially for direct flights from KUL. There are still great redemption sweet spots, plus options for hotel stays and cash conversions.
At BolehMiles, we still believe in a balanced miles diet, i.e having Enrich and KrisFlyer/Asia Miles as the staples, and complement with other FFPs such as Avios.
