MH and SQ Firm Up Joint Fare Partnership

Back in Jan 2026, MH and SQ announced a strategic business partnership, but aside from the frequent flyer earning and redemption arrangements, many of the finer details remained unclear.

Today, with regulatory approvals, both airlines have officially rolled out their joint fare product between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. You can read the official release here.

The partnership revenue tickets for KUL-SIN and SIN-KUL flights are now available on either airline’s website, regardless of whether the flight is operated by MH or SQ, with identical pricing across both websites.

Joint Fare Offering: Are MH Fares Being Raised to SQ Levels?

According to the official announcement, “The new joint fare offerings build on the airlines’ existing codeshare partnership, enabling MAB and SIA to provide customers with a greater variety of fare options between the two capital cities, as well as enhanced connectivity across the combined network of both carriers.”

This all sounds good for the newspaper, but it appears to have coincided with a sharp increase in KUL-SIN fares on Malaysia Airlines. As of today, the lowest one-way fare for the next few months on the MH website is ~RM800, which is much higher than before.

Interestingly, fares on online travel agencies (OTAs) can still be found at around the ~RM500 levels, making the pricing discrepancy even more puzzling.

Hopefully these are just temporary system glitch related to the rollout of the new joint fare product.

The Enrich redemption system has also been behaving oddly today (22 June) on the day of announcement. All KUL-SIN Enrich Saver award seats briefly disappeared before reappearing later in the evening.

Reciprocal lounge access coming soon?

Reciprocal lounge access was also mentioned in the announcement, meaning the intent is that eligible passengers of one airline could use the other’s lounges.

The release did not provide concrete details, but what could possibly happen (pure speculation on our part) is that MH passengers might be able to access SilverKris Lounge at Changi, while SQ passengers gain access to the Golden Lounge at KLIA.

Elite MH passengers would certainly welcome access to the SilverKris Lounge at Changi, adding to the existing OneWorld lounge options from British Airways, Qantas, Cathay Pacific and Qatar Airways.

At KLIA, however, it is unclear whether the already crowded Golden Lounge can accommodate additional SQ passengers, who are currently directed to the Global Lounge.

But for now, no details have been announced, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Conclusion

Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines have officially launched their joint fare product, following the strategic partnership announced in January 2026. Reciprocal lounge benefits are also expected, although details have yet to be announced.

Fares on Malaysia Airlines for the KUL-SIN route appear to have increased significantly, though hopefully this is only a temporary system glitch. We’ll provide updates as more details emerge.
