Latest update: Osaka gets the A330neo, Bali saw frequent aircraft swaps, and Tokyo and Brisbane get more A330neo flights
The A330neo is Malaysia Airlines’ latest and greatest aircraft. While it may offer the best in the world, we think it’s the best way to fly MH right now. It features refreshed seating and new IFE in both Business and Economy, as well as privacy door in Business Class.
If you’re flying to Japan or Australia and haven’t tried neo yet, we do recommend experiencing it at least once for yourself.
Here are the 9 destinations scheduled to fly on the A330neo (booking data as of Oct 2026):

Note: You may still encounter aircraft swaps on any of the routes above, which is unfortunately one of the saddest parts of air travel.
Osaka gets the Neo in Q1 2027
The A330neo is scheduled to fly daily from Kuala Lumpur to Osaka from 15 January to 28 March, for about 2.5 months during Q1 2027 winter.
We found Enrich redemption slots at 52,000 Points for Business. For Economy however, we found no Enrich Saver slots, and the lowest redemption fare available is 35,700 Enrich Points before taxes and YQ, which is on the expensive side.

Bali: New Schedule and Last-minute Swaps
Since late August 2026, MH has moved its Sunday neo service to Tuesday – Booking data now shows that the neo flies to Denpasar on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Denpasar used to be a reliable way to try the neo on a short flight, as Peter did in his February 2026 review.
However, based on data we collected, aircraft swaps happen for about 40%+ of the time since late August 2026. Mostly, the aircraft gets downgraded to a 737 narrowbody, but sometimes it gets the older widebody A330-300.
If you’re heading to Bali anyway, we’d still pick a scheduled neo flight, but wouldn’t count on it. Bali is just less than 3 hours away, but if you must fly Business, SQ offers Business Saver at 23,000 KF miles (compared to MH Saver: 25,000 Enrich Points) and you can reliably get on a B-787 widebody on SQ.
Tokyo will get two flights per day on the neo
Starting 15 Dec 2026, MH70/71 to Tokyo will be operated daily by the A330neo. This is on top of the current 4x weekly MH88/89 neo service Tokyo.
Unfortunately though, based on historical flight data, MH88/89 is also prone to aircraft swaps, alhough not nearly as bad as Bali.
With MH70/71 scheduled to operate daily on the neo, it offers more opportunities to experience the aircraft and is probably the safer bet compared to MH88/89. Hopefully, it will be less prone to aircraft swaps.
Brisbane now gets the Neo 7 times weekly
Some of us may say Australia is boring, but it remains a key market for Malaysia Airlines, which continues to expand its services there.
Effective 25 Oct 2026, MH increased its direct flights on the neo to BNE from 6 to 7 weekly, making it a daily service.
Redemptions can be tricky, though. A one-way Business Class costs 102,500 Enrich Points, compared to just 16,900 in Economy. For a flight of around 8 hours, many of our readers would understandably prefer Business Class.
A better alternative to BNE is Singapore Airlines, where a Business Saver costs much ‘cheaper’ – just 75,500 KF miles.

How to check and Book an A330neo flight?

It’s easy – look for “A339” next to the flight number in the flight search results page.
Note though, aircraft swaps can still happen last minute on any route, even if it shows A339 at the time you make the booking. If your aircraft changes, we recommend checking the updated seat map and adjusting your seat selection to suit your preferences.
What’s the current fleet situation for Malaysia Airlines’ A330neos?

Since our last update in February 2026, only one new A330neo (9M-MNP) has entered commercial service so far this year, bringing a total of ten A330neos to MH’s fleet. This pace of fleet expansion seems to be on the slower side. Hopefully, deliveries will pick up in 2027 as the airline works toward its target fleet of 40 A330neos by 2031.

What’s the business cabin actually like?

The A330neo Business cabin uses the Collins Aerospace Elevation arranged in a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone configuration. This brand of seat is widely used by many airlines nowadays, including by Cathay Pacific (Aria Suite) and Starlux.
The business cabin features a total of 7 rows and 28 seats. Every business seat is equal: same size, direct aisle access, and no more worrying about getting shortchanged on comfort or space unlike the older A330-300 cabins.
The Economy cabin features 269 seats, including 3 rows of extra-legroom seats that could easily pass as Premium Economy standard!
You can read Peter’s latest 2026 full review of the cabin here:
Will the A330neo fly to Europe?
While the A330neo technically has the range to reach Europe from Kuala Lumpur, it seems quite clear that Europe is not part of the A330neo fleet strategy, likely due to operational constraints.
London and Paris look set to continue operating on the A350, the only aircraft in MH’s fleet featuring the exclusive Business Suite cabin, which is quite unique. Meanwhile, theBusiness Class remains a great way to fly, despite its older staggered 1-2-2 and 1-2-1 featuring the popular Throne Seats.

Conclusion
Bali remains an option for trying Malaysia Airlines’ A330neo on a short flight, although frequent aircraft swaps have made it less reliable than before.
MH will deploy the neo to Osaka in Q1 2027. Hopefully, given the popularity of Osaka, MH will continue deploying it to Osaka even after Q1 2027.
Lastly, Brisbane now enjoys 7x weekly A330neo flights, as MH continues to strengthen its focus on the Australian market.
